New Training program added

Introduction to IDPA Competition

Also referred to as our new Sharpshooter Training Program, is a pilot program designed by our senior Safety Officers to mentor Novice or Marksman class shooters to become better competitors as they improve their skills and marksmanship. This is the next progression after becoming involved in IDPA and completing the New Shooter training our club offers which, is not in its third year.

The training is offered on a limited basis to our members who may read about the opportunity on our club forum.

May at Trail Glades

Weather was nice for a change.

That helped 40 of our members deposit no less than 2200 rounds into the backstops including a fair size squad of new shooters that went through our new shooter screening.

The stages were designed to be short and fast featuring cover,

shooting from the ground using weak hand

and my favorite Jack Nicholson impersonation of “Here’s Johnny”  coming through a door.

OK, not that one, this one..

Lastly, a shout out to our VP and local Match Director who bagged a couple awards for the 2011 IDPA Postal Match. These are for his performance with our neighbor club in Key Largo. We are awaiting the arrival of the remaining awards and will post an update when they arrive. Congratulations Jose.

The results are up.  Stay thirsty my amigos.

Tuesday Night May 1st. New shooter training begins

Dear New Shooters;

“Unless the range is closed, we are a go! Bring rain gear since it may rain off and on. Wear appropriate footwear because it will be muddy. Unless the lightning warning indicators prevent us from being on the range, we will run the class”

This course is offered to everyone who is interested on our Tuesday night drills held at Markham Park on the first Tuesday evening of each month.

The cost of the course is $50 and upon completion of this program, each student receives a free shoot at any TSSA event in the future. ( A $25 value).
To enrole, you need a pistol of standard manufacture in 9mm, 40S&W, or 45ACP. A sturdy belt in belt loops on your pants. A holster that allows you to holster safely with one hand, 3 magazines ( 2 worn on your belt and one for the pistol), eye and ear protection appropriate for range use ( not ear buds and reading glasses), 200 rounds and an open mind to learn from our instructors.

South Florida Weather

Well day two of our match was a wash (rimshot- crash cymbal), but we finished the day on a good note for the dedicated shooters that stuck it out. The scores are up on the match page and we are getting ready for our next, regularly scheduled event on Tuesday night.

The weather should clear by then.
